Crossfit Sentinel ONE location in Seoul, South Korea

by Mike on April 2, 2014

There are a lot of affiliates in Seoul.  You can Google or use Naver(a South Korean Based Search engine) and find one that convenient for your locations.  However, there’s one brand that really stands out with its multiple locations.  This is the Crossfit Sentinel affiliate.

I ended up at their ONE location in Yongsan.

I was in touch with Nathan Atkins prior to my visit who marked me down for one of the class.  Upon arriving I was greeted by “Cindy” who was expecting me.  She promptly handed me towels and a key for the gym locker.

She then directed me to the men’s locker room.

After changing, I finally met Nathan who introduced me to Cody.  The two folks were from New Zealand.  We chatted for a bit about our backgrounds and what we do.

Eric from Florida was running the class and since he only speaks English, this class was in English.  Right before the class, one of the guys spoke a few words in Korea, Japanese, and Chinese, testing Eric on picking up the difference.

The WOD was pretty straightforward.   It was a Thursday, which is a slow day and consisted of a partner work out.

FACILITIES

Having a shower facility is a huge convenience that I rarely take advantage of State Side largely because I can simply hop in my car and ride home after a workout.

Working out in an urban area is different because it’s annoying riding the metro all sweaty.

The shower facilities here are clean and spacious.  It’s probably one of the better facilities I’ve seen out of any CF affiliate.  They supply their own shampoo so you don’t have to carry around a bottle in your bag.

I was supplied with two towels because of the diminutive sized compared to western bath towels.  Otherwise a single towel will get saturated super quick and be ineffective.

GETTING THERE

The closest sub way stop is Itaewon and from there it’s a 15-minute walk. The bus is another option since there’s a bus stop right outside.  This site is helpful in using the bus system in Seoul.  If all else fails, you can take a cab.

The affiliate is very easy to find despite being located in a basement.  There’s a sign at street level and high up.

There’s two doors so a first time visitor will be confused on which one to enter because the two are not connected. If you’re there to WOD, you want to go down the right.  The left is for their “boot camp” and kids class.
