It’s been a while since I’ve made my way to a baseball game. If I can recall correctly, the last one was in Japan nearly a year ago. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to watch the Yankees play the Nationals in outr Nations Capitol. It was a day game and the weather couldn’t have been better – blue skies, nice comfortable temperature. You can’t ask for any better weather for a summer afternoon viewing.
I was expecting an uneventful game, but that wasn’t the case. I’ll forever remember this game as the longest baseball game I’ve ever attended in terms of innings played. After nine innings, the score was tied 3 to 3. It wasn’t until the 14th inning that the Yankees scored in the top of the frame and were able to close it out in the bottom of the frame for the win.
One thing to note, when a game goes 14 innings, there’s two seventh inning stretches, hence the name of this post. It’s a rare instance for a ballgame to go the marathon and for a fan to see two seventh inning stretches, which why I thought this would make an interesting post.
Seat wise, we were sitting on third base side, row TT, which was great because we were out of the sun the entire game and didn’t end up looking like baked lobsters.
Has anyone else attended a lengthy baseball game?
